New independent body to replace ASCC

The Australian Safety and Compensation Council Business Plan 2008-09 has set out areas in OHS and workers compensation which need addressing, which includes an organisational name change.

The areas are arranged under two major categories, namely National OHS Strategy 2002-2012 national priorities, and workers’ compensation.

In February 2088, the Workplace Relations Ministers’ Council made a decision to replace the ASCC with a new, independent body. This will obviously require a change of name and branding along with a modified focus. Some key matters under the spotlight are: national consistency, promotion of vocational training, safe design, strengthening government influence, and best practice return to work guidance material are some of the key matters under the spotlight.

Some issues are evergreen, and, being thus, do need continual focus. Every health and safety operative should have a read and understand the direction the current government will be going.

Category 1: National OHS Strategy National Priorities

  • National Priority 1: Reduce high incidence and severity risks

  • National Priority 2: Improve capacity of business operators and workers to manage OHS effectively

  • National Priority 3: Prevent occupational disease more effectively

  • National Priority 4: Eliminate hazards at the design stage

  • National Priority 5: Strengthen capacity of government to influence OHS outcomes

Category 2: Workers’ Compensation

  • Return to work

  • Scheme Design

Online Induction: easy to use, fun, and extremely educational…

Try Online Demo Here ...

That’s how you would describe eLearning People’s latest safety package.

Developed by industry experts, this easy-to-use, interesting, and highly effective Safety Induction course focuses on some of the key issues affecting businesses. Workplace simulations, animations and quizzes, are just some of activities your teams will experience as they use this fresh and appealing approach to understanding their role, legal requirements, and reducing workplace hazards.

Inductions are the first step to educating employees about health and safety, and getting it wrong can be costly, both to your people and your organisation.

This course has been constructed to concentrate on essential safety issues, such as:

OH&S Responsibilities
Hazard Management
Manual Handling
Emergency Procedures
Consultation and Issue Resolution
Bullying in the Workplace
Hazardous Substances

By using eLearning People’s method of online inductions, an organisation can:

  • Be sure its people learn at their own pace; which means they don’t have to keep up with a class that might be going too fast for them.

  • Be sure its people develop understanding of important health and safety issues, regardless of where they work. The course was designed for that purpose.

  • Minimise downtime, as their people may not need to leave the worksite

  • Be assured they are complying with legislation for induction training

  • Be sure their people had fun doing it!
