The Hand Injury Centre is a new integrated service for the acute management and rehabilitation of all Hand Injuries.

We provide a comprehensive service starting with an initial medical assessment and hand surgery by Specialist Surgeons. The Hand Injury Centre then organises Hand Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy as required and liases with the Rehabilitaion Providers and Insurance Companies to make the injured patient’s return to work as smooth and rapid as possible. The Hand Injury Centre treat all patients regardless of their medical insurance status.

The Hand Injury Centre was born when a group of surgeons realised the difficulties faced by patients suffering hand injuries. The assessment and surgical treatment was often delayed by incorrect referral and the delays inherent in the Public Hospital system.

The Hand Injury Centre had a vision where patients could be assessed and treated efficiently and quickly by Specialist Surgeons working in the private hospital setting. For others, their management can be fast-tracked through the public hospital. The patient’s rehabilitation and return to work would also be seamlessly integrated into the system, allowing a more rapid return to work and function. Thus The Hand Injury Centre has evolved into a streamlined system coordinating the complete management of hand injuries.
