Penalty for defunct plumbing firm |
|
LIQUIDATED business Metropolitan Plumbing has been fined $55,000 for breaching workplace safety laws.
The Industrial Magistrates Court yesterday said the penalty, while notional, was important.
In November 2007, an apprentice plumber assigned by the company to clean a roof gutter fell 3m to a concrete path.
He suffered a concussion, fractured his right wrist and cheekbone, and dislocated a knee. Safework SA investigators found the company had no established safety policy for roof gutter cleaning.
